OUR HISTORY
The Y is a nonprofit like no other. That’s because in 10,000 neighborhoods across the nation, the Y has the presence and partnerships to not just promise, but deliver, positive change. In McLean County, we’ve been listening and responding to our community for over 160 years. The Y brings people together. We connect people of all ages and backgrounds to bridge gaps in community needs. The Y nurtures potential. We believe that everyone should have the opportunity to learn, grow and thrive.
Collectively, the YMCA is the largest nonprofit organization in the United States impacting the lives of more than 20 million individuals annually through the mobilization of more than 600,000 volunteers and more than 15,000 staff members. Locally, the Bloomington-Normal YMCA directly impacts the lives of approximately 4,000 individuals annually and provides financial assistance to the community in the way of membership, program and facility usage in the amount of $160,000.00 annually.
With a mission to put Christian principles into practice through programs that build a healthy spirit, mind and body for all, our impact is felt when an individual makes a healthy choice, when a mentor inspires a child and when a community comes together for the common good.
