The timing of these position openings present a significant opportunity for applicants as we embark on the expansion of a new, state-of-the-art 75,000 square foot facility in the heart of the community in a partnership with Easterseals of Central Illinois. Projected to open in the summer of 2022, the team members of today will be the history-makers of tomorrow, bringing to our community, one and all, the best that the YMCA has to offer.
Personal Trainer
Under the supervision of the Director of Healthy Living/Youth Sports, the Personal Trainer will be responsible for providing structured and personalized exercise and nutritional coaching to YMCA members and program participants.
Group Fitness Instructor
Under the supervision of the Director of Healthy Living/Youth Sports, this position is responsible for leading and instructing group fitness classes in a safe, enjoyable, and positive environment for participants of all skills and fitness levels.
Youth Basketball Referee
The role of a Referee is to officiate basketball games to ensure the safety and fairness of all children, coaches, and fans at YMCA basketball games.
Program Site Supervisor
Under the supervision of the Director of Youth Sports/Healthy Living, the Program Site Supervisor will be responsible for assuring the safety, cleanliness, and organization of our youth programming sites and assist with in-person communication with program participants and other relevant staff.
Summer Day Camp Counselor
Counselors are responsible for planning, teaching, coordinating, and carrying out daily activities related to weekly themes that fulfill the mission of the Bloomington-Normal YMCA.
Summer Day Camp Director
Under the supervision of the Director of Youth Development, the Day Camp Director will be responsible for overall Elementary Summer Camp operations: tone-setting, communication, behavior management, scheduling, quality of activities, and parent communication. The Day Camp Director supports day camp counselors, ensures the physical, emotional and social safety of camp attendees, builds relationships with attendees and their household members, and leads the camp team by demonstrated strength in responsibility and leadership.
YPALS Group Leader
Under the supervision of the Director of Youth Development, this position is responsible for leading a group of students in academic and enrichment activities, working with a team at school site locations and for school break day programs.
YPALS Team Leader
This position provides direct supervision of children and Group Leaders, maintains a safe and healthy environment, and develops/implements program activities that are safe, fun, and appropriate to the participant’s ages and abilities.
Aquatics Team Member
Under the supervision of the Director of Aquatics, the Head Lifeguard will be responsible for ensuring the safety of all aquatic participants in and around the pool area and maintaining a safe pool environment in accordance with YMCA policies and procedures.
Member Experience Team Member
Under the supervision of the Sr. Director of Membership Experience, this position is responsible for providing warm, welcoming, and knowledgeable service to YMCA members, program participants, volunteers, and other YMCA staff and to work within the established procedures that help serve the community and the mission of the YMCA.
Wellness Team Member
The Wellness Team Member at the Bloomington-Normal YMCA serves our community by intentionally welcoming, connecting and supporting them as they grow in their journey of healthy living. Wellness Team Members will embody the values of our organization by assisting members with proper equipment use and advising members on proper technique to minimize chances of injury, among other duties. This position reports to the Director of Wellness.
Facilities Team Member
The Facilities Team Member at the Bloomington-Normal YMCA is responsible for the overall cleanliness of the facility and the completion of planned cleaning projects. Under the supervision of the Director of Maintenance, the Facilities Team Member responds to member concerns in a professional and courteous manner and assists the Director of Maintenance in the further development of the custodial department.
