Inclusion at the Y

At the YMCA, we are committed to creating an inclusive and welcoming environment for everyone. Our Sensory Support Bags are designed to help individuals with sensory processing needs feel more comfortable and supported during their visit. Each bag contains a variety of sensory-friendly items such as noise-canceling headphones, fidget toys, sunglasses, and more.

These items can be particularly beneficial for individuals with autism spectrum disorder (ASD), ADHD, or other sensory sensitivities. By providing these resources, we hope to enhance the Bloomington-Normal YMCA experience for all our members and ensure that everyone can enjoy our facilities and programs to the fullest.

We believe that everyone deserves to feel comfortable and supported, and we are proud to take this step towards greater inclusivity and accessibility. If you have any questions or need further assistance, please don't hesitate to reach out.

To Check out a Sensory Support Bag:

1. Simply visit the front desk and ask one of our friendly staff members for assistance.

2. It is required that members provide an item such as a driver's lisence or car keys to the front desk staff that will then be returned to the member once the Sensory Support Bags have been checked back in at the front desk. 

3. Bags are available on a first-come, first-served basis and can be used throughout your visit.
