(BLOOMINGTON, Ill.) – The Bloomington-Normal YMCA has selected Patrick Mainieri to be the organization’s first Chief Operating Officer.

The Chief Operating Officer’s essential job functions are multi-functional- operational, supervisory, and collaborative, and are focused on best-in-class quality and experiences for all participants.

Mainieri relocated to the Bloomington-Normal area in 2013 from South Carolina where he spent many summers working with YMCA Day Camp programs.

On January 4, 2022, Mainieri will officially begin employment bringing his administrative, logistics, and operations based experiences to the staff, members, and community that our Y serves.

“I desire to have a far-reaching impact on my community,” says Mainieri, “and believe that serving as the Chief Operating Officer at the YMCA will allow me to grow alongside a group of leaders that are invested in the support and success of our community.”

In his current role as an Assistant Principal at Bloomington High School, Mainieri assists with numerous aspects of school, student, and staff operations while supporting families in the growth of their children. With more than 12 18 years of experience working with and supporting YMCA’s, 15 years in public education and continued education within leadership development, Mainieri will join the Bloomington-Normal YMCA as the first Chief Operating Officer in the organization’s history.

“Patrick is a fantastic addition to the team here. He brings a wealth of knowledge and experience that will help us better serve our community at a critical time. His operational management skills and team-centered approach to leadership is a great fit for the Bloomington-Normal YMCA,” said B.J. Wilken, CEO of the Bloomington-Normal YMCA.

As the YMCA continues to build out a staffing structure to support the brand new facility opening in Spring 2022, located on east Washington and St. Joseph Drive, we are thrilled to welcome Patrick Mainieri to the Bloomington-Normal YMCA!
