Specialty Camps at the Bloomington-Normal YMCA provide week-long opportunities for children of all ages to try something new, learn new skills, and explore their passions with a group of children who share the same interests! Specialty Camps give your child the added opportunity to swim everyday and grow in what they love to do - all while instilling the Y’s core values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility!
SPECIALTY CAMP HOURS & LOCATIONS:
All Specialty Camps will be held at the Bloomington-Normal YMCA, located at 202 St. Joseph Dr. in Bloomington, 61701.

Become a member of the YMCA and access registration early! All registrations can be done online.
YMCA Members: Registration opens February 13, 2023
Non-Members: Registration opens April 1, 2023
REGISTRATION RATES:
All participants pay a $75 non-refundable registration fee to hold their spot in the specialty camp selected.
SPECIALTY CAMP RATES:
YMCA Members: $225 per child
Non-Members: $450 per child
The YMCA will never deny services due to financial hardship. The YMCA is able to provide reduced rates on membership and programs to those who qualify through our Financial Support program.
WATERPOLO CAMP: June 19-23
Age: Youth entering grades 6-9
YMCA Water Polo Camp is a unique water polo experience available to young players. Our camp is a hands-on approach to water polo instruction delivered by coaches and players who have played and coached at the collegiate level. This type of instruction is a rewarding, beneficial, and unique experience for players of all ages. Participants will gain a better understanding of the game, the positions they play and key skills, moves, and techniques needed to elevate their overall game.
CHESS CAMP: June 26-30
Age: Youth entering grades 3-5
At Chess Camp, children are able to participate and learn about one of the most popular board games in the world! Designed for new or beginner players, Chess Camp is for any child wanting to learn more about how the game is played, improve their chess skills, and play against other beginner players!
SPORTS CAMP: July 10-14
Age: Youth entering grades 3-5
Welcome all athletes! Sports Camp is for children who want to learn and play a wide range of different sports such as baseball, basketball, football and more! Have your child grow athletically while learning good sportsmanship and game rules all while having fun!
JR. LIFEGUARD CAMP: July 17-21
Age: Youth entering grades 6-9
Jr. Lifeguard Camp at the YMCA is an American Red Cross program taught by a certified lifeguard. During this week-long camp, participants will develop discipline, teamwork, and the value of helping others. Jr. Lifeguard Camp will prepare students for a full Lifeguarding course when they reach the age of 15. It will also help strengthen their swimming skills and endurance. The last two days of camp will provide an opportunity to test skills and receive a Jr. Lifeguard certification.
MUSIC CAMP: July 31-August 2
Age: Youth entering grades K-2
At Music Camp, it’s our mission to allow children to express themselves through music whether it’s learning the basics of musical technique, reading music, exploring different instruments, or using their voice to sing different melodies! Led by our program staff with musical interest and enthusiasm, music camp is perfect for children who want to discover new talents!
ART CAMP: August 7-11
Age: Youth entering grades 1-3
Give your child an opportunity to explore their creativity by participating in guided, unique, and hands-on art activities! Whether your child is an experienced artist or just discovering their creative side, this program allows your child a way to learn and practice new skills with other children who share the same interests!
