Job Title: Facilities Team Supervisor

Base Pay Rate: $18.74/hr

Reports to: Director of Maintenance

Primary Function/Department: Facilities

POSITION SUMMARY: 

Under the supervision of the Director of Maintenance, the Facilities Team Supervisor will be responsible for the overall cleanliness of the facilities, aiding in the supervision of custodial staff, and the completion of planned cleaning projects. The Facilities Team Supervisor responds to member concerns in a professional and courteous manner and assists the Director of Maintenance in the further development of the custodial team.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 

  1. Ensures high-quality upkeep of facilities and equipment through the completion of regular housekeeping tasks and projects.
  2. Regularly checks the quality of work done by custodial staff and communicates work done as well as any issues with the Director of Maintenance. 
  3. Keeps an honest record of completed tasks, work orders, and projects per department standards.
  4. Maintains ongoing communication with the Director of Maintenance regarding supply orders.
  5. Reports any broken or damaged equipment to the Director of Maintenance.
  6. Assists the Director of Maintenance in developing task lists based on facility needs.
  7. Assists the Director of Maintenance in training new staff members on cleaning methods, equipment, and procedures.
  8. Works independently to ensure a safe environment for staff and members by making sure custodial, security, and emergency procedures are implemented properly.
  9. Ensures safety around cleaning tools, chemicals, and equipment through regular inspections and safe handling.
  10. Maintains a positive working relationship with all YMCA vendors.
  11. Supports community partners efforts, including event setup.
  12. Treats all staff and members with kindness, compassion, and respect.

NECESSARY SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS

  1. Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic backgrounds.
  2. Demonstrated and relevant work and supervisory experience.
  3. Strong time management skills.
  4. Ability to complete task lists independently with minimal supervision.
  5. Knowledge of occupational hazard safety rules.
  6. Night and weekend availability.
  7. CPR & AED certifications (YMCA provided within 30 days of hire date).
  8. DCFS mandated reporter certification (YMCA provided within 30 days of hire date).
  9. High school diploma or equivalent.

PREFERRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

  1. Understanding of the Spanish language both spoken and written.
  2. Prior experience with commercial cleaning equipment and floor finishing.
  3. Experience with work order management software.

WORK ENVIRONMENT 

  1. Use of commercial cleaning chemicals and equipment to clean and disinfect the facility.
  2. Communication using a computer, phone, or smart device.
  3. Sitting, standing, reaching, and ability to move around the work environment.
  4. Repetitive motion for long periods of time.
  5. Occasionally lifting and/or moving up to 50 pounds.
  6. Use of vision abilities including close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust.
  7. Varying lights levels/color and changing visual stimulation.
  8. Moderate noise levels in the work environment.
  9. Occasional stooping, kneeling, or crouching.
  10. Standing and walking for long periods of time.
  11. Ascending and descending stairs.
  12. Exposure to outdoor weather conditions.
