The safety of our members, participants and staff is a high priority for us. Thank you for helping us create a safe and welcoming environment! YMCA facility policies are in place to ensure all who visit the YMCA have a positive experience!

 

 

DOBSKI FAMILY WELLNESS CENTER

ATTIRE AT THE Y:
  • Athletic shoes and clothing, without rivets or exposed zippers, may be worn on the Wellness Center Floor
  • Tops with offensive messages, including but not limited to references to drugs, guns, alcohol, or profanity are not permitted.
YOUTH USE:
  • Youth ages 7 and under may utilize the track accompanied by their parent/guardian.
  • Youth ages 14+ may utilize the Wellness Center, track, and Family Friendly (FF) fitness classes with intent.
  • Youth ages 8-13 may utilize the Wellness Center, track, and Family Friendly (FF) fitness classes with supervision of their parent/ or guardian.
  • Family Wellness Center Orientations are required for all youth ages 8-13.
DOBSKI FAMILY WELLNESS CENTER POLICIES:
  • All participants must utilize the space with intent.
  • Sanitize equipment after use.
  • Weightlifting chalk is not permitted.
  • Food is not permitted in the Wellness Center.
  • Drinks in a shatter-proof container with a lid are permitted.
  • Take turns and allow others to work in.
  • Return all equipment to its original location.
  • Weight plates and dumbbells must be controlled and are not to be dropped.
  • The use of the safety clip is recommended on all treadmills.
  • Collars must be utilized with all free weight bars.
  • There is a 30-minute limit on all cardio equipment when others are waiting.
  • Utilize day lockers to store bags and personal belongings.
  • Video and photographs are not permitted in the Wellness Center, bathrooms, or locker rooms.
  • Formal instruction is to be conducted by YMCA staff only.

 

PNC PLAY AND LEARN CENTER

CHILD WATCH (AGES 3 MONTH TO 3 YEARS)
  • Diapers must be clean at the time of check-in. A soiled diaper must be changed by their parent or guardian. YMCA staff will contact the parent/guardian if a diaper change is required.
  • The parent/guardian must remain in the facility at all times.
  • During check-in, the parent/guardian must inform the staff where they will be in the facility.
  • During peak use, 15 children are permitted in Child Watch.
  • There is a 90-minute limit for children in Child Watch.
KIDS' ADVENTURE (AGES 4 TO 9 YEARS)
  • Socks must be worn in Kids’ Adventure. Clean and sanitized socks are provided for any children needing a pair. Loaned socks must be returned when leaving the facility.
  • The parent/guardian must remain in the facility at all times.
  • During check-in, the parent/guardian must inform the staff where they will be in the facility.
  • During peak use, 15 children are permitted in Kids’ Adventure.
  • There is a 90-minute limit for children in Kids’ Adventure.
HOURS AND PLAY GROUNDS
  • Child Watch and Kids’ Adventure center hours can be found on our website at www.bnymca.org
  • Playgrounds are not available for open/free play during programmed times.
  • Playgrounds may be utilized by members when the PNC Play and Learn Center is closed, accessed through the gate from the porch.

 

SHIRK SPORT CENTER

ATTIRE AT THE Y:
  • Athletic shoes and clothing must be worn in the Sport Center.
  • A shirt covering the abdomen must be worn at all times.
  • Shirts with offensive messages, including but not limited to references to drugs, guns, alcohol, or profanity are not permitted.
YOUTH USE:
  • Children ages 8-11 are allowed in the Sport Center with a parent or guardian in the facility.
  • Children ages 12+ may participate without a parent or guardian in the facility.
SPORT CENTER POLICIES:
  • Only YMCA staff are permitted to enter the Sport Center storage room.
  • All equipment must be put back in its designated place or given to the front desk or gym monitor after use.
  • YMCA owned equipment must be returned undamaged.
  • Dunking is not permitted.
  • Swearing or foul language is not permitted.
  • Food is not permitted in the Sport Center. Food may be consumed in the lobby area.
  • Drinks in a shatter-proof container with a lid are permitted.
  • Dispose of all trash in trash receptacles.
  • Video and photographs are not permitted in bathrooms or locker rooms.
  • Use of speakers are not permitted in the Sport Center unless provided for YMCA Programming.

 

AQUATIC CENTER

ATTIRE AT THE Y:
  • Swimmers must wear dri-fit/swim material swimwear when entering the pool.
  • Aquatic shoes are permitted in the recreation/therapy pool.
  • Athletic shorts, shoes, and cotton-based clothing are not permitted while swimming.
YOUTH USE:
  • Youth aged 14+ may utilize the Aquatic Center and participate in aquafit classes with intent. Horseplay will not be tolerated.
  • Youth aged 8-13 may participate in aquafit classes with the direct supervision of their parent or guardian.
  • Youth under the age of 8 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian at all times in the Aquatic Center.
  • All youth under the age of 16 must attempt the swim test to utilize the competition pool, deep end of the therapy pool and lazy river without a lifejacket.
AQUATIC CENTER POLICIES:
  • Illinois Department of Public Health pool safety policies and regulations are posted in both pools. Participants are expected to review before swimming.
  • Participants must walk on the pool deck.
  • Bags must be stored in a locker or on a wall hook.
  • Participants may use personally provided noodles, balls, or dive rings/sticks. YMCA owned aquafit equipment, the kickboards/kicksticks, and the swim school tubes are for program use only.
  • Food is not permitted in the Aquatic Center. Food may be consumed in the lobby area on the 1st floor.
  • Water in a shatter-proof container with a lid are permitted.
  • Underwater breath holding is not permitted.
  • Participants may jump facing forward, feet first. No flips, spins, or backwards entry.
  • Diving is only permitted in the deep end of the competition pool.
  • All personal flotation devices must be US Coast Guard certified and approved by a lifeguard. Lifejackets in varying sizes are available upon request.
  • Lap lanes are for continuous length swimming or water walking.
  • Do not climb on splash pad equipment, railings, lane lines, ropes, or starting blocks.
  • The lifeguards’ decision is final.
SWIM TEST PROCEDURE:
  • All youth under the age of 16 must attempt the swim test to utilize the competition pool, deep end of the therapy pool and lazy river without a lifejacket.
  • Youth will be asked to swim one length of the pool (25 yards) unassisted, without rest or touching the pool wall, demonstrating positive body position then tread water for one minute.
  • Youth who pass the swim test will have a note added to their membership account and will not be required to test again unless there is a concern for safety by a lifeguard. Passed swimmers will wear a green swim band on their wrist.
  • Youth who do not pass the swim test may test each time they come to the Aquatic Center. A red swim band will be worn by youth required to stay in the shallow area or needing to wear a lifejacket.

 

HERMES FAMILY TRACK

HERMES FAMILY TRACK POLICIES:
  • Walking, jogging and running are activities welcome on the track.
  • Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday the track direction is counterclockwise.
  • Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday the direction is clockwise.
  • Strollers are welcome on the track daily from 1p-4p and 8p-9p (M-F). Other times at the discretion of YMCA staff members.
  • Inside lane is for walking, outside lane is for running and jogging.
  • 12 laps = 1 mile

 

SAUNA & STEAM ROOM

SAUNA AND STEAM ROOM POLICIES:
  • 18+ years age requirement
  • Athletic clothing or swim suit required
  • No shoes
