AN AQUATIC EXPERIENCE WITH ACCESSIBILITY FIRST
At the YMCA, we understand that there are a multitude of reasons that public pools can be inaccessible to members of our community that go beyond simple water safety. As part of an effort to make our pools accessible to all, we'd like to invite our members to come participate in Sensory Swim!
Sensory Swim will take place on Sundays in the Recreation/Therapy Pool. During this time, we'll be modifying the environment in order to promote a more peaceful and less overwhelming experience for children and families who struggle with sensory issues.
DATES/TIMES
Every Sunday from 3 - 4 p.m.
First Sensory Swim offering: June 2nd
FULL LIST OF CHANGES
During this time, the following changes will be put into place:

- The window shades will be pulled down to limit natural light, and the overhead lighting will be dimmed.
- Rules regarding yelling, pushing and shoving will be strictly enforced in order to promote a more peaceful swimming experience.
- Lifeguards will be scanning on foot in order to ensure safety and to correct behavior.
