Every day, our community continues to face challenges that create a greater need for the work we do.
Every day, our community continues to face challenges that create a greater need for the work we do.
At the Y, we believe we have something special -- a sense of community -- and that everyone should have access to it, along with the programs and services that help us learn, grow, and thrive. With the help of so many, we were proud to share the Y with more than 3,000 children, seniors, and families last year who otherwise might not have become a part of our family. We believe that lasting personal and social change can come about when we work together to invest in our kids, our health, and our neighbors.
The YMCA continues to tackle critical social issues in McLean County by never denying access due to the inability to pay. This year, we’re planning to use your contributions a little differently. With a goal to raise $400,000, the YMCA Strong Kids Campaign is supporting four efforts in 2024:
In the absence of food, clothing, and shelter, the number one need for every human being is sense of community and belonging. Regardless of financial ability, your gift supports the YMCA’s doors being open to all of our neighbors.
In 2024, we are determined to provide membership opportunities to at least 3,000 of our neighbors.
For children to thrive, they need acceptance, encouragement, and socialization with friends. With your generosity, the YMCA will provide a safe, fun and encouraging environment for the summer.
In 2024, we are determined to provide at least 300 children with increased opportunities for social/emotional learning and youth development.
Children of color drown at 5x the rate of white children. Your gift supports the Y in providing specific programs to address this issue.
In 2024, we are determined to teach at least 400 children of color to swim and to be safe around water.
Participating in youth sports is going out of financial reach for many. Your support provides all youth the opportunity to discover belonging on a team when participating in affordable sports at the Y.
In 2024, we are determined to provide youth sports opportunities to at least 200 children.
