WELCOMING STUDENTS FROM PRAIRIELAND AND GROVE ELEMENTARY
Registration rates are per child.
Early Registration: July 1, 2019 - July 21, 2019; $30 Member/ $40 Prospective Member
Open Registration: July 22, 2019 - August 19, 2019; $40 Member/ $50 Prospective Member
Late Registration: August 20, 2019 - End of School Year; $55 Member and Prospective Member
Registration reserves your child's spot in YPALS for the entire school year. Once you have registered for the program, your child may attend at any point during the school year.
All rates are per child.
PM Only: $9.50/Member; $13.25/Prospective Member
PM All Week: $46/Member; $65/Prospective Member
Payments are run on the 1st and the 15th of each month for the previous two weeks of attendance. Families will only pay for when their child(ren) attend YPALS; no payment will be applied to the days your child(ren) is not at YPALS. A valid method of payment upon registration is required for processing bi-weekly payments.
After school programming is 2:20 pm - 5:30 pm
PROGRAM/PICK UP LOCATION:
Calvary United Methodist Church: 1700 N. Towanda Ave, Normal, IL; Southeast Entrance/Gym Entrance
Drive to the southeast corner of the parking lot and park in the U drop off/pick up. Enter through the doors and the Team Leader will assist with locating your student.
**Please note: All students must be signed in/out by and authorized pick up. ID will be required. Students may only be picked up at the elementary school or at Calvary UMC. Please do not pick your student up during transportation between school and Calvary UMC.
DATES OF PROGRAM:
Friday, August 16, 2019 - End of school year
School Break Day Program is offered on most full days that Unit 5 schools are not in session. This program is held at the YMCA.
YPALS does not provide after school programming on half days or on inclement weather days that after school activities are canceled before noon.
YPALS Enrichment program is structured around the Y Principles of youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. Students will participate in a variety of activities that keep them active, engaged, and growing. Students will be divided into age groups with one Group Leader for every 10-12 students. Groups will remain the same for at least one month.
Students will participate in a variety of activities with their group. Activities may include the following:
- Homework assistance
- Outdoor play
- Organized recreation
- Team sports skills
- Team building
Prairieland Elementary details:
Gathering Spot: Cafeteria
Students will meet in the back half of the cafeteria, once released from classrooms, and will be seated by grade. Staff will take attendance once all students have arrived.
Most days, students will walk from Prarieland to Calvary UMC. Please ensure your child(ren) has shoes that allow them to walk the half mile. On inclement weather days, we will transport students from Prairieland to Calvary UMC using the YMCA shuttle bus or 15 passenger vans. Our inclement weather definition is if temperatures drop below feels like 15 degrees, thunder/lightening, torrential downpour, or unsafe sidewalk conditions due to heavy snow or ice.
GROVE ELEMENTARY DETAILS:
Gathering Spot: Library
Students will gather in the library with YPALS leaders.
Transportation: YMCA Shuttle Bus
Once all students are gathered, YPALS staff will load students onto bus. Depending on the number of students attending that day, there may be two rounds of transportation. Younger students (K-2nd grade) will load immediately and go to Calvary UMC, older students (3rd-5th grade) will stay in the library with a YMCA staff member for snack and start homework before the second round of transportation.
