EMPOWERING YOUTH
Youth and Government is a nationwide program affiliated with the YMCA of the USA with a mission to provide the youth of Illinois with an immersive education and fun experience to inspire/promote life-long leadership, ethics, responsible citizenship and self-confidence through participate in a unique model state government program.
YOUTH AND GOVERNMENT AT NORMAL COMMUNITY HIGH SCHOOL
The Bloomington-Normal YMCA will provide an opportunity for high school students to become involved in the mock legislative and judicial program for all freshman through seniors, based on the three-branch democratic system. Students will meet throughout the year with their advisor and program volunteers as a delegation, researching bills, learning about process, and exploring areas of interest.
In addition to regular delegation meetings, students attend pre-legislative session trainings in November and December (4 hour events), and Assembly in March in Springfield, IL.
SESSION INFORMATION
Youth and Government is available to all youth in our community ages 15-18 years old.
The Fall session begins Thursday, September 8th at 5 p.m. in Community Room A at the Bloomington-Normal YMCA, located at 202 St Joseph Drive in Bloomington.
Youth and Government will meet every Thursday at the YMCA at 5 p.m.
