CULTIVATING HEALTHY LIVING......LITERALLY!
Through the generosity of local property owners Tim and Ketti Schenk, the YMCA each year plants 3/4 acre of tomatoes, potatoes, carrots, squash, zucchini, sweet corn, onions, beets, lettuce, and radishes to be 100% donated to those in need. In 2014, just over 2700 lbs was produced and donated to the Clare House Food Pantry, Home Sweet Home Ministries, and other non-profits.
We ask that individuals do not pick the produce that is grown so we may fully designate the produce to the local missions.
- Improve health through dietary intake for those in need
- Engage the community through volunteerism
- Develop and foster relationships by working together toward a common cause
The YMCA's mission garden is result of many dedicated and helpful volunteers who enjoy gardening and enjoy giving back to their community.
