Y-FI (Youth Fitness Intervention)
DEVELOPING HEALTHIER YOUTH
The YMCA's response to rising childhood obesity rates, Y-FI stands for Youth Fitness Intervention and is a 12-week session designed to improve nutrition habits and increase physical activity. This is a one-on-one nutrition and exercise program with required parental involvement. The Y-FI program is developed by a Registered Dietitian and Certified Personal Trainer.
Participation in the Y-FI program is based on physician referral and a registration fee of $150.00 applies. A payment plan is available in lieu of a one-time payment.
- Improvement of overall health through diet and physical activity
- Enhanced health literacy and education
- Improved family dynamics and relations
- Reduced advanced medical costs
- Improved self confidence and self worth
The program is designed based on the latest peer-reviewed research on diet and exercise. Families will find comfort in knowing that each participant is given individualized attention along with a diet and exercise regimen based on best practices and guidelines from the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) and the American Dietetics Association (ADA). YMCA staff are exercise science majors, certified personal trainers and graduate level dietetics interns. This combination of dietary and exercise expertise enhances program outcomes.
Program participants must receive a Y-FI script from a physician or school nurse. Once received, bring to the Y to get enrolled!
