The Bloomington-Normal YMCA positively affects the lives of nearly 4000 individuals annually by providing healthy alternatives in a safe, friendly environment. Of these 4000 individuals, half are under the age of 18 years.

‘Sam is a nine year old who recently experienced the hurt of divorce. His mother and three younger siblings Emily, Jacob, and Thomas were forced to move into a two bedroom apartment due to the foreclosure of their home. Sam’s mother works two jobs in order to pay the rent, utilities, and put food on the table. She works very hard to make ends meet and would like to provide healthy opportunities for her children. Sam’s mom heard about the YMCA swimming lessons and decided to enroll all the children. As a result, the YMCA was able to provide swimming lessons for all the children at a significantly reduced rate thanks to the YMCA Strong Kids program.’

This is just one story of many upon which the YMCA has been able to help. Your investment in the YMCA helps perpetuate opportunities for children who otherwise would not be able to participate.
