Community Impact

Since 1855, the Bloomington-Normal YMCA has been fulfilling programmatic needs in our community that emphasize good character. Character traits such as Caring, Honesty, Respect, and Responsibility are necessary components upon which to build a civil society. The YMCA accentuates these traits through our swimming lessons, summer day camp program, youth basketball league, before/after school program, home-school gym and swim program, wellness programs, and much more.

Collectively, the YMCA is the largest non-profit organization in the United States impacting the lives of over 20 million individuals annually through the mobilization of over 600,000 volunteers, and over 15,000 staff members. Locally, the Bloomington-Normal YMCA directly impacts the lives of approximately 4000 individuals annually and provides financial assistance to the community in the way of membership, program, and facility usage in the amount of $148,733.00 annually.
